8 years!

Yes! I left my secondary school 8 years ago.

Someone actually darted, "You mean Secondary School was 8 years ago for you?" Yes, I know I am getting old, but not very old. Just, um, youngish old.

Surprisingly, most of the people I knew from secondary thought I left this tropical island and returned to the land of portuguese egg tarts! Seriously, I have been here all these while! I wore green for 2.5 years okay! Out of the blue, of all places I met my secondary schoolmate whom I have not seen for 8 years at a central hospital today! He could recognise me just because he think that I have not changed a bit at all. I could remember his name but he was unable to recall mine. Well, we just talked a lot. I mean, it is 8 years of catching up! Is really a lot of random conversations! Truthfully, my secondary school time was really just before the era of mobile phones, MSN and stuff. I mentioned just before, and it was really just 1 or at most 2 years before that era. It was hard to stay in contact when people tend to shift houses and change their fixed lines.

Anyway, I was told that he was packing his room a few weeks back and saw the yearbook and wondered how everyone was doing. Coincidentally, I met him today. See, the power of yearbooks! (Advert: So please contribute photos and articles to make the medicine yearbook truly yours!) My most vivid memory was that we were in the Students Council and took turns to sort of lead the school in singing the national anthem, recite the pledge and sing the school song everyday alternating English and Chinese each week. Occasionally, the PA system goes bonkus and I really had to sing it like my very own concert. haha

We will soon make a visit to our alma mater. It has really been ages and I wonder how it has changed. Think it will be celebrating its 50th years anniversary next year. How exciting! By the way, this friend of mine was actually at the hospital for a job interview. To think about it, after all these years, I am still a student! Sigh, till 2009 then!

2009!

Oh my!! I actually participated in this "Favourite English Words Competition" organised by British Council in conjunction with Speak Good English Movement! And I won some vouchers just for 60 winners out of the 6000 participants! haha!!

On a sidenote, somehow after I started to update this blog again, interesting events start popping up from nowhere. haha :-)
