The 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR
1st July marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Tomorrow is of special significance as HKSAR celebrates it decade old of existence. The usual fanfare that happens yearly during the anniversary will be observed by the President, Hu Jintao. Though most of the Hong Kong people are immersed in the festivity, given that it is a public holiday, some others are hopeing that their voices could be heard by the China's President. Mr Hu will also preside over the swearing-in ceremony of the new principal government officials of which most are of civil service backgrounds with one or two outsourced from the academic sector or other sectors. It is interesting to note that the average age is lower than the previous batch. Having witness HK's ups and downs for the past 10 years, I am sure they have the grit and courage to make HK even better.
Here are my 10 wishes for Hong Kong,
1) Peace and Stability (Article 23 is very sensitive) 2) Harmony 3) Maintenance of Unique identity 4) Clean Air 5) Universal Suffrage Time Frame 6) Continue to be International Financial Centre 7) Be Pro-active in Preservation of heritage 8) Re-consider Educational reform 9) Continue to look after the interests of the less advantaged 10)West Kowloon Cultural Centre will be a reality
Here is wishing Hong Kong all the very best in the years to come!
