After nearly 2 weeks of heated debate and mostly ferocious tongue waggering on whether a certain person is of a good character to represent his people, the results are out! Well, I am glad that the incumbent managed to secure 66.6% of valid votes. I guess it should be a good enough mandate for the rather new PM to carry out his programmes for the future of the tropical island. I must add however that I am rather impressed by the showing of the opposition especially that of the hammer. The questionable character aside, I must say that they have been very courageous to fight in powerhouses and yet survived with their deposits unscathed. I guess their courage to take the risk is admirable. Sadly, the proposed ideas by the hammer seem to want to steer the tropical island towards that of a welfare state which is extremely dangerous and sounded the alarm. The hammer managed to raise a few issues but all in all seem rather idealistic.
Oh well.
The incumbent has promised the following;
1. Create opportunities for all 2. Give our young the best start 3. Encourage every citizen to play a role 4. Do more for lower-income citizens 5. Help older citizens to lead full and active lives 6. Provide affordable healthcare for all
In another words, a better life for all. As for whether these will be delivered in due course, we shall all wait and see. I guess there is a lot of work to do for the incumbent but I guess with their track record, is not mission impossible.
What is more? A certain alumni from my alma mater has been identified with ministerial potential and he was one of the 5 candidates who contested and won at my ward. Here is my heartiest congratulations and we shall see what he and his team can contribute to the betterment of not just the residents in the ward but the whole tropical island altogether.
Now that it is over, shall look forward to the next one then.
