Managed to catch a slight glimpse of the proposed upgrading physical developments to the School of Medicine recently. Nope, I was not one of those invited personnel to view it but the workers just managed to place the cardboards by the staircase and so I had the honour to view it once. But I do forsee that there will be a gallery for the staff and students to view it at a later date.
Anyway, another friend whom saw it expressed with a simple statement, "We won't be using it anyway."
But then again, I feel that even though we are not able to use the facilities, we should feel proud that we were involved directly or indirectly in this upgrading process of a 100 years old medical school. At least we were there when the donation was made by the YLL Foundation and had the honour to be part of the centennial celebrations.
In 5-10 years time, YLLSOM will greet the public and its new students with a few spanking new buildings with abundant state of the art facilities, similar to those that I have been raving about since I saw the HKU Faculty of Medicine a few years back and if I am not wrong these new buildings will come together with a new syllabi, examinations format and drastic changes to the curriculum.
By then, I would at least be happy that my little feedback forms that is done through clicking numerous buttons online have contributed to the making of a world-class YLLSOM.
Till then, I hope I can witness the opening of the new YLLSOM, albielt perhaps next to the television screen which will most probably be HDD enabled by then.
