Holiday Review

My 11 days whirlwind holidays started with a perfect landing on the soil of Aeroporto Internacional de Macau. Sounds like I am very much in an European land, just that it is really part of China. Anyway, the weather was really cooling with temperature ranging from 12-18 degrees celcius. My main mission in Macau during the initial 3 days seemed only reserved for one - to eat.

Had a range of Local Macau food, Burmese noodles, Chinese Dim Sum, Portuguese Barbeque, Japanese food as well as Shanghai cuisine during my initial 3 days there. It was like a total food galore and I really enjoyed the Christmas feeling there with all the decorations and lights etc.

The 4th day was the day we took the hydrofoil to Hongkong. The hotel we stayed in, Eaton hotel was really professional and good. What is more, it is so near the Jordan MTR station. Would recommend it to anyone who wishes to travel to Hong Kong - Asia's World City! The 5th day was the highlight of the trip for we visited the newly opened Hong Kong Disneyland!

Hong Kong Disneyland was, despite many critisms not bad afterall! At least, that is the impression I have as a first-time Disneyland visitor. The whole place was really magical! Smiles everywhere with dancers and Mickey Mouse alike, moving happily along the streets. The games were okay with a minimum queue time of about 30 minutes. The most thrilling ride was the roller coaster ride. I guess the focus of Disneyland in Hongkong was not the rides but more of an immersion to a magical kingdom which I felt I have experienced totally! Ended the night with synchronised fireworks and supper at a steamboat restautrant where the waiters couldn't wait to knock off.

The last night was spent indulging in the most famous Roasted goose in Hongkong. I thought I might have a chance to take a glimpse of Mr Donald or some famous celebrities, but I guess they didn't want to have roasted goose on a Thursday night. That dinner, I must say was one of the best Chinese meals I have had in a restaurant for ages. Do visit it (Yung Kee Restaurant) if you really want to try the good food! Do reserve seats first!

The 8th and 9th days were spent in Hainan Island. Took the flight from the new Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. Actually, I feel that Guangzhou resemble Singapore very much in the way the buildings and roads are built. Well, that is just a personal opinion. The 2 days were spent visiting relatives and tryng out the different authentic Hainanese delicacies.

I bid farewell on the 11th day. Seems like I do update on my HK and Macau trips every year during this part of the month.

Somehow, this kind of updating reminded me always of how things would be if I were studying in HKU.

hmm...has been 2 years but yet I am still constantly reminded of it.

Oh well!
