Now that Korean drama has taken a backseat for me, I have been heavily dwelling on Hongkong drama to kill time since no schools want me for relief teaching. Anyway, the 30 episode drama that I am indulged in presently - War and Beauty (Gum Ji Yok Yim, Jin Zi Yu Nie), is supposed to reflect real life according to viewers. I prefer to know that the reverse is true.
I shall give a brief synopsis of the show. A lot of attention is required for it is a very tough show to comprehend. So there is the following empress and concubines Q,Y,O,T,W. As well as the Emperor, an Imperial Physician and a Royal guard. You can skip the next paragraph actually, is all about "sisters" and "friends" betraying each other.
Y is the pet lover of the Emperor but Q is supposedly the Empress so she did everything possible to remove Y away from the Emperor's sight. The worst thing is in their conversations, they address each other as sisters! T and W were initially sworn sisters but it was all a trap that T planned. W made friends with O who was a maidservant at the beginning. W trusted O very much and O was really a great friend. Then, Q killed O's grandmother. In order for O to make Q suffer, Y recommended for O to be as close to the Emperor as possible. So O betrayed W to be a concubine. Presently at episode 24, OTW are still fighting.
Can you imagine if this is in real life?
Your close friends can betray you to achieve their purpose while people can pretend to be your close friends just to step above you.
