Oh well, just for a day. Better than nothing! So, this school in the east called me up this morning at 7+am and I was instructed to rush down to the school. Forgot to ask what classes I will be teaching but went straight ahead anyway. Oh! None of the class greeted me.
0810: Reached school. Greeted by HOD Science. Briefed.
0820: First class. Sec 3 Normal, Malay. Malay? How challenging! Went into the class, everyone wanted to go toilet. Fortunately they managed to settle down and got them to teach me malay.
0850: Sec 1 Express, Art. Everyone was busy and I got scolded by one of the students for marking the attendance again. I rebutted, "I want to know you all mah!"
0920: Sec 4 Technical, Civics Education. Went into a half filled classroom, no one was interested. Glad to know a few students actually plan to do the O levels!
0950 - 1120: Break! Yeah! Chatted with the other relief teacher.
1120: Sec 1 Express, project work. Their form teacher decided to stay on with me, so basically I was just stoning and talking to some groups about project work. Then one of the students, I met later, said hello. Obviously I will say hi back right? Then she told her friend, I know this teacher quite well......UM??!!!
1150: Back to the same Sec 4 Technical class, this time for Malay. They challenged me to speak Malay so that they would listen to me! So I brought out my favourite MRT lines (finally useful!) "Sila Ambil Perhatyan..." Guess they were impressed! So I told them Ghost stories for the whole period.
1250: Sec 1 Normal, D & T. Played hangman with them and educated them on countries of the world. They seemed very interested and told them that there are 2 countries in the world located within a country. The students actually said bye and told me to come again! haha..
1320: Break! Need to prepare for actual teaching later.
1350: Sec 2 Normal, Maths. OHP spoilt. Whatever I prepared went to waste. Nevermind, I shall teach them slowly. None paid attention, some fell asleep. Thought, hopeless. Everyone claims they don't know what I am talking about. Decided to tell them how I hated Maths too and things got better towards the end! They answered my questions actively even those sleeping. However, wrong the answer might be, they tried and showed interest.
That made my day.
1450: Home Sweet Home. Had a great day!
