Had a PBL dinner with our PBL tutor today. Only 2 did not turn up due to extraordinary committments. Dinner was at Marche and to my horror, they changed the configuration of their food placements. Had such a hard time orientating myself, not that I go there often. Anyway, it was a great dinner and at the end of it the tutor sent us all a Thank You email. How touching is that?
Halfway during the dinner, someone brought up the idea of Role Models. Mentioned about how our dean have 2 western role models and how they blah blah blah. So I realised I have got 2 role models as well! haha....
1) Dae Jang Geum 2) My Secondary 2 Tuition Teacher
I am not crazy or obessessed with Korean drama okay! But Dae Jang Geum being the first and only female Imperial Physician in Korean history really deserves to be a role model. Her resilience and dedication to the field of medicine is very much admired. Furthermore, she place patient care before all else and follows strict principles when practising not forgetting to be innovative. She does everything with her heart and is determined to succeed. So, she has to be in my role model list.
As for my Secondary 2 tuition teacher, she was the one who inspired me to take on medicine. She made me think that a neighbourhood student can achieve great things too and motivated me to take on the subject combination and perservere on. I did. Sadly, she is not around anymore, met with an accident when she was a year 1 medical student. Was very saddening.
