Had lunch with a friend today. Let's call him, eh, T....
T and I stepped into Bodyshop at Bedok.
Aromatherapy section. Time: 1600
Girl smelling Ylang asking T (G):" Excuse me, do you know anything about Aromatherapy?"
T: "Not really."
Me: giggles.....
T and I walked around then,
G to T: "Excuse me, can you open this bottle for me?"
G to T: "You know hor, my sister use Ylang, she said very good, you think it is good?"
G to T: "Cannot open right, I also cannot open."
T: "You can go to the counter."
Me: can't take it, laughed. (outside the shop: sensitivity.)
Me: "What if she ask for your mobile number?"
T: "I will not give, this is not the first time."
Me: shocked.

What have we learnt from this small little short episode here? hmm....I guess nothing. But I came to understand something......
Reality.
Reality is cruel. The reason why he was approached is, because he is being blessed with something that people will look at first by stereotypical means, looks. Now, I happen to understand why the different skin-care products are so popular and that it is so highly sought after. That why cosmetic surgery is a booming market and everyone is going after this craze. Is always good to leave a lasting impression, right?
All these people, in fact, everyone do not want to be like me, a green, fat and ugly alien, left un-noticed by the corner. Maybe, the reason why I am here, is to make the above people look even better as a form of comparison.
Reminds me of an article recently about a woman in China who is being turned down by thousands of prospective employers just because she is ugly, in the stereotypical form. However, reality is such. She was offered cosmetic surgery and now she is happily employed.....hmm......will I be employed in the future as well? Or will I suffer the same unfortunate fate?
I guess, I am just an object for comparison, to bring out the goodness in other people, as well.
Well, at least people do feel good about themselves after looking at me and boost their confidence, hmm.....
