Watched today's debate, Columbia University, USA versus Am Shaims University, Egypt. Was hilariously exciting. Somehow, felt that both sides do not really comprehend what each other is trying to say. Really admire their drive to not only learn Chinese but debate in Chinese. Wonder what was the pushing factor? Is it, the rising power of China, the appreciation of Chinese culture, or yah? Is quite upset to hear ethnic chinese around here feeling that they should not learn chinese or mandarin. Hmm....not that I am here to promote the Speak Mandarin Campaign, but it true, "Use it, don't lose it!" Learning another language is indeed very useful and beneficial, culturally, socially, economically, everything!! hmm....
Tomorrow will be another series of debate between Stockholm University and Moscow International Relations Institute. Felt that it would be exciting too after watching the snip shots. Well, guess I will have to watch it alone in a cold air-conditioned place. Got to stay overnight again!~ hehehe.....
