Had the best birthday present this morning at 7am. Was a call from the primary school section of my alma mater (ms) to relief teach for the day. I do not live exactly very near to it but I was required to reach at 7.45am. Well, I agreed nevertheless and reached punctually. haha...
The timetable was quite shocking with 3 periods of English for 2 of the classes. Anyway, I took only Primary 1 classes, so I guess it was pretty much very challenging. Kids are really kids and I must say most of them are very adorable while some were extremely naughty.
One even pointed out to me that my surname lacked a B which will make a lamb.
As for the naughty ones, their main occupation was simply shouting across the classroom, running away it, pinching each other, throwing water bottles and papers as well. I could never control them. Most of the time, a teacher from the neighbouring class would pop by and just give them a stare. A stare, and that was enough to silent all of them while I kept trying to persuade them to keep quiet.
The worst lesson I must say was Library Instructional Programme. The reason was with the journey. The distance is rather far and I made more than 5 stops to headcount and 3 teachers dropped by to help me discipline them. In the end, they could only spend 5 minutes in the library. Disastrous! They complain and ask about all sorts of thing,
"Mr.X, can I drink water?" "Mr.X, can I sharpen my pencil?" "Mr X, he copy my work." "Mr X, he throw paper into my shirt." "Teacher, they run about, very noisy."
But never once did I flare up as they were so adorable and one asked,
"Mr.X, why are you not scolding us at all?"
haha...I must say it was a very satisfying day and a fulfilling birthday present.
Parted the day when I brought them to the school gate for dismissal and some asked,
"Will you be coming tomorrow? How about next week?"
