That same school in the east I wrote not too long ago recalled me back at 7.10am today. Seems like that admin really know when to call! Always call when I slept rather late the previous night. Still, managed to rush down to the school in time.
0820: Sec 4 Normal Maths. I walked into the class like I was invisible and I remained so for the whole period.
0850: Sec 3 Technical Maths. Even before I stepped in, three-quarter of the class went to the library to enjoy the air-con and have fun with the internet. I have no choice but to bring the whole class down. The only way to control them.
0920: Break
0850: Sec 3 Express Maths. Really love this class. Everyone is so spontaneous and eager to learn and find out about things.
1050: Sec 1 Express History. The only class that greeted me and bid farewell to me for the whole entire day. They were copying notes so I was spared.
1120: Break
1150: Sec 3 Technical Maths. Went to look for their teacher to ask for permission to go to the library. The teacher said no and advised me on a few matters. Had a hard toime persuading them to do their work. 2 students were very interested to learn and I hope they understood me. Taught them Simultaneous Equations.
1220: Sec 1 Technical English. The Monitors in this class are superb. I don't even have to do anything.
1250: Sec 3 Express A.Maths (Same class earlier on). Really enjoy teaching this class. Helped them solve past year questions and taught them functions. Everyone was so eager to learn and ask questions. The problem is, I have not touched Maths for many years, everything was rusty. There was a Vietnamese boy who showed the most interest in my teaching albeit some mis-communication here and there.
1320: Supposedly break but stayed on with the class to clear their doubts.
1350: Sec 1 Normal History. I thought I was in the zoo. As I was explaining the Achievements of China in the areas of Sciences and Arts. Students were playing catching, using newspaper to hit each other, throwing things around, banging tables. Gosh! Tried the Quiz method but one student exclaimed, "No prize, for what?" The next door teacher came in to scold them and apologised to me, I thanked her instead.
Some things I wished I did not say,
To a boy who was throwing a styrofoam ball, "Give me your ball, now!" To a group of students, "Divide yourselves into threes"
I must say that teaching is getting more enjoyable although frequency is low. Perhaps, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Went back VJ for Mediquiz preparation. I must say, it is mission impossible. Poor JC kids!
Received my results today. Grades depict the British Broadcasting Coporation with decorative pluses in two. Well, some say I will be able to move on to the next level but I am worried. Anyway, what you sow you shall reap. Oh well! But I really don't want to join the rat race of sorts, unfortunately my itchy hand got me calling lots of people today, for people started messaging me and got me worried.
