So a tropical island on 18th April 2005 has given the green light to build 2 integrated resorts with a 3-5% Casino component in each at MB and S respectively. It is expected to create up to 35,000 jobs and add 1.5 billion dollars to its annual GDP. A more practical stand was taken for this issue whereby the focus was more on jobs creation and revitalising the economy, thus the decision.
I wanted to really comment on the above issue but decided not to. Why? Since the decision is already made plus I seriously believe that at present, this is the best way to bring economic growth to a higher level as well as maintain employability for the people with the uncertain world around us and burgeoning powerhouses but it must not be taken as the only solution to its economy woes. Furthermore, I seriously doubt the long term sustanibility of such a development. By that time, I guess, the tropical island will have to think of new ways to further re-invent itself.
I am equally excited and apprehensive about the development. Nevertheless, shall wait and see.
Back to miscellanous stuff. Had a cosy dinner at Din Tai Fung, somehow I seriously still think that they do make better Xiaolongbaos then their rivals a.k.a CJ. As usual, the outing was with the OMG ,a new term coined by one of the members who is an amphoteric member belonging to both the OMG and the CGG or rather the LMG. So it was a night of nonsensical talkings followed by a cup of Pure Vanilla at coffee bean.
I am still jobless and I find each day getting harder to get by. Don't throw stones at me but I really have problems planning for a day of activities and so on. Seriously, trying to look for a job outside relief teaching. Well, shall wait and see!
