Hong Kong in a Typhoon. Posted by Hello

Hong Kong Observatory has activated the No.8 Typhoon Signal as of 11.45am (16/07/2004) HKT. Typhoon Kompasu is projected to land in Hong Kong this evening. The stock exchange will be closed 15 minutes after the activation of the signal. All schools should be closed and schools should ensure the safety of the students on their way home.

Major ferry services between Tsimshatsui, Centeral, Wanchai, Macau, Outlying Islands or Mainland China has been cancelled till further notice.

The Hospital Authority has closed all public clinics as well as nursing homes and psychiatric day care centres.

The Home Affairs Department has also opened 24 hours shelters for residents should they require such services. Some flights will be cancelled while others delayed till further notice.

The No.8 Typhoon Signal is now activated.

As for Macau, the Typhoon No.3 signal is now activated.

Hmm...my first typhoon after so many years...how exciting!
