Went to labour as a paper shreder-er today. Shred the whole morning off with 6 trash bags full of paper. The hissing sound of the shredding machine is still clearly heard in my head! urgh! Well, apart from shredding, i did not at work today....it is after work, that is the INTERESTING part.
Yes, my friend, V, borrowed a car today and we decided to venture up north. North, as in really north, all the way across the narrow straits of water to the Boleh Nation M up north. Before that, he was kind enough to drive me back to my alma mater, Maris Stella, to revive the nostalgic memories. It changed quite a lot, now with added Chinese calligraphy and paintings splatterd everywhere. Even the notices are now all in Chinese.....not forgetting the new buildings.....wow! Maybe, they finally realised that they are a SAP school after all, so all the Chinese stuff. Really miss the good old student days back then, though not much of memories to talk about.....haha....
So, Up North. With all those recent horrendous crimes. How exciting! We had to catch a friend from Bishan and Kranji before we proceed on with the ardous journey. Hmm...we had really bad luck finding the place were the horses are! Kranji! It was really tough to find, cause us, not really avid fans of horse-racing, will seldom venture into this vast landscape of Kranji. Nevertheless, we managed to save our friend from turning into a stone. yes!.....so the time now is 1530 hrs.
Everything was peaceful as we cleared the customs on both side. The Woodlands Checkpoint Complex is really colossal, I really do not know what the rest of the building is used for as it seems rather redundant....guess, it is just an ego-booster tactic. That, we are boleh too? Nevermind that.
As we searched for the 'backside', 'back-alley' or 'roadside' stores in Tampoi, Johor, we stumbled into many wrong turns. But, still managed to find them in the end. Ate so much there for tea....food like, Chow Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee, Xin Chow Mee Fen, Laksa, Sotong Kankung, Rojak.....all very delicious, all very cheap! haahahah.......we ate to our very full and continued shopping in Angsana. hmmpz....Angsana, what a name...and it lived up to it, there was nothing there really. People shopping there was like....countable? Perhaps, there will be improvement the next time we visit it. It has a notable number of eateries though. hmm....we went to Giant. Yes, the same mega-mart we have right here. But, I guess the stuff are supposed to be cheaper. We intended to buy lots of food but realised that we might have to pay a hefty tax, so forget it, get them in Singapore la!
So we saw a DVD store that says "delivery to Singapore". How nice of them, right? To my horror, those were all unethical discs. The most disgusting thing was i saw Finding Nemo 2 on the covers but when I flipped to the back, it was.....um.....obscenity which I shall not name. Think of the children! Children like me! urgh!
There was also this visit to this sleazy shopping centre after Giant. It was so sleazy such that you can find young people clad in extremely short materials, prancing around looking for 'prey'. Really sad to see this as most of them are like under-aged? Why? Why must they resort to this? I could only think that they were shopping there. Yah! Shopping, with most of the shops closed. hmm......
The last stop, was this eatery full of good food. We ate, Crayfish, crabs, Dough ?filters, Kangkung and Beggar's Chicken. It all tasted very well and we had Thai Coconut for a drink. Guess we should not have ordered Beggar's Chicken cos, we saw swarms of them coming to us for assistance. Of course, having learnt my lesson, I shall not be conned. But, well, they are really very poor thing.....how sad, having to do all these just to get maybe a meal or two? How fortunate we are. hai!~
Had a heated debate over some stupid issues on the way back and managed to reach home at about 1am. It was really home sweet home where roads are smoother and signs are in....English.
It was really an eye-opening trip. Nonetheless, it was an extremely pleasant and enjoyable trip with special thanks to the driver, V and the accompaniment of Z and G. Thank You so much.
